Fake tan tips, we tell you how to apply fake tan, tips to avoid going orange or yellow with fake tan & how to cover up fake tan patches.

First of all do not apply fake tan straight after a shower, wait for about an hour and then exfoliate and moisturise, if you use tans that are clear on application then you can't see what you've missed, only put a little on your knees, elbows and ankles, after you have applied the tan wait for about five minutes and then make your hands damp and rub them lightly all over your body, this will help the self colour to blend in but make sure your hands are just damp and then reapply moisturiser to your knees, elbows & feet to even out dark patches that will otherwise go orange, don't put to much tan on at first to avoid going orange.

Wear gloves when applying creams and lotions or your hands will go darker than the rest of you, so wear either thin latex gloves or thin cotton gloves and after you've done the rest of your body take off the gloves and put a little tan on your hands remembering to do between your fingers.

If you find any streaks or patches you can use one of the tan corrector products are now available, these must be used within five hours of applying the tan and are little wipes that you use to blend the tan in, if you have gone yellow then you have not put enough on so give it another application but remember that most fake tans take up to four hours to develop and some continue working all night, make sure that the fake tan is dry before putting any clothes back on.
